Over the past decade, MC-Bauchemie Ghana has evolved from a very small team into a team of more than 80 professionals supporting projects across Ghana and West Africa. The anniversary provided an opportunity to reflect on that growth while also looking ahead to the company’s role in advancing construction quality, technical knowledge and industry collaboration.

Industry symposium puts structural safety and climate resilience in focus

The anniversary programme opened on 28 July with a symposium at the Labadi Beach Hotel under the theme “From Concrete Time Bombs to Building Century-Ready Cities: Navigating Structural Safety, Accountability and Climate Resilience in Ghana’s Built Environment.” Opening the event, Noble Bediako, Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie Ghana, reflected on the company’s ten-year journey and reaffirmed its commitment to innovation, technical excellence and continuous professional development. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Boateng Onwona-Agyeman, Former Provost of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences at the University of Ghana, and moderated by Kwadwo Botuo Gyimah, Construction Sector Expert at the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana (AHK Ghana).

The panel brought together leading voices from engineering, academia, regulation and industry, including

  • Ing. Kwabena Bempong, Engineering Practitioner, Associated Consultants
  • Prof. Benjamin Agyei-Tuffour, University of Ghana
  • Ing. Tsaku Mawuli, Ghana Standards Authority
  • Miss Naana Tandoh, Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority
  • Mr. Emmanuel A. Cherry, Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry

Discussions focused on the causes of structural failures, stronger regulatory accountability, climate-resilient infrastructure and practical technical and economic solutions for long-term sustainability. A key conclusion was that Ghana already has significant technical expertise and regulatory frameworks in place, but stronger enforcement, closer collaboration and a consistent commitment to quality remain essential. The symposium concluded with participants taking the “Century-Ready Ghana Pledge”, committing themselves to uphold national standards, prioritise structural safety and contribute to a safer and more resilient built environment.

Celebrating partnerships and a decade of growth

On 29 July, MC-Bauchemie Ghana hosted its official anniversary celebration, bringing together customers, consultants, contractors, suppliers, business partners and representatives of the global MC-Bauchemie Group. In his address, Noble Bediako highlighted the company’s transformation over the past decade and thanked employees and partners for their contribution to its growth.“The first ten years were about establishing ourselves and earning the trust of the market. The next ten years will be about deepening our technical leadership, strengthening our contribution to the MC-Bauchemie Group, expanding our presence across Africa and continuing to develop exceptional people who will lead this organisation long into the future.”

Nicolaus M. Müller, Group Managing Director of MC-Bauchemie Müller GmbH & Co. KG, congratulated the Ghana team on building one of West Africa’s leading construction chemical businesses through expertise, innovation and a strong commitment to quality. Current and former Regional Directors for Africa, Yassine Ben Ayada and Christoph Hemming, also joined the celebrations. Long Service Awards and special recognition awards were presented to employees, customers and strategic partners whose contributions have supported the company’s development over the past decade.

Staff celebration honours the people behind the success

The anniversary programme concluded on 30 July with an internal staff celebration at the MC-Bauchemie Ghana headquarters. After two days focused on industry dialogue and external partnerships, the final event placed employees at the centre of the celebrations. Team members came together for an afternoon of games, music and fellowship, creating an opportunity to celebrate the teamwork, commitment and shared values that have supported the company’s growth.

The event also included addresses from Group leadership, Regional Management and the Ghana Managing Director, all of whom reaffirmed the company’s commitment to investing in its people and developing the next generation of talent and leadership within the organisation. The staff event provided a fitting close to the anniversary programme by recognising that the company’s development over the past ten years has been driven not only by products and projects, but by the people behind them.

Looking ahead

As MC-Bauchemie Ghana enters its second decade, the company intends to further strengthen its technical leadership, expand knowledge transfer and professional development, introduce innovative construction technologies and deepen collaboration with stakeholders across Ghana’s construction sector. The ambition for the next chapter extends beyond business growth. MC-Bauchemie Ghana aims to continue contributing to better construction quality, greater structural safety and a more sustainable and resilient built environment in Ghana.
